EHO days are not automatic, so families should contact the school and complete the required request before the absence whenever possible. The activity must have a clear educational purpose and meet school/district guidelines; nonacademic extracurricular activities do not qualify. If you are planning a trip or event and think it may qualify, please reach out to us ahead of time so we can help you determine the next steps.

As you look through the pictures from the night, you’ll see smiles, laughter, families spending time together, and memories being made. Behind each of those moments is a community that believes in supporting its school and its children. The funds raised through events like our Fall Festival help provide additional opportunities, resources, and experiences for LeGrande students throughout the year.
We are incredibly grateful to everyone who gave their time, talents, donations, or support. Our Fall Festival reminds us that LeGrande is more than a school—we are a family, and great things happen when our family comes together for our kids!

Each spring, students across Kentucky take state assessment tests known as KSA which stands for the Kentucky Summative Assessment. This annual statewide testing program is given to public school students in grades 3 through 8, 10, and 11. It is designed to check student proficiency and progress based on the state academic standards in subjects like reading, mathematics, science, social studies, and writing. For KSA, students receive a separate scale score and performance level (Distinguished, Proficient, Apprentice, and Novice). Your child’s individual scores will be sent home by your child’s school very soon. Additionally, Kentucky uses a five-color rating system to evaluate overall school performance, ranging from red (the lowest) through orange, yellow, and green, to blue (the highest). The ratings consider several measures of academic achievement and school quality, including test performance, school climate and safety, and at the high school level, graduation rates and postsecondary readiness.
We are proud to share the following accomplishments from our 2025-2026 KSA test results:
> There were fewer Novice scores across the district in 3rd grade Reading, 7th grade Reading, 7th grade Science, and 11th grade Writing.
> There were increases in the percentage of Proficient and Distinguished scores across the district in 3rd grade Reading and Math, 4th grade Math, 6th grade Reading and Math, 7th grade Reading and Science, and 11th grade Writing.
> Our Middle School students across the district showed increases in Science, Social Studies, and Writing scores.
> As a district, our Quality of School Climate and Safety was rated as “High” for Elementary and Middle schools and “Very High” for the high school.
> The high school saw an increase in Postsecondary Readiness and its Graduation Rate.
Additionally, we are excited to share that the high school ranked 3rd in our Region overall, was in the Top 5 in all tested areas in the Region, and ranks 1st in the Region on the last four year average!
We are also thrilled to share that student attendance has averaged 94% or higher for the first two months of the school year which is about a quarter percentage higher than the two previous school years.
We continue to focus on using student testing data to positively impact the instruction and interventions used in each school to help each student achieve academic growth and success. Thanks to our parents and guardians for your continued support and encouragement as we work together to educate our future.

Western Kentucky University is offering upcoming fall enrichment programs and above-level testing opportunities for high-ability and high-interest students. Below are the key details for both programs.
WKU Super Saturdays (Grades 1–6)
Super Saturdays is a three-week enrichment program where students explore specialized areas—including science, math, art, history, writing, music, and performance—through hands-on learning alongside enthusiastic peers.
Program Dates: October 17, 24, and 31
Registration Opens: Tuesday, September 8 at 5:00 p.m. CT
Cost: $120 (Financial assistance is available)
Registration Note: Courses fill on a first-come, first-served basis, so early registration is recommended.
TIP-KY Above-Level Testing (Grades 4–8)
The Talent Identification Program of Kentucky (TIP-KY) offers above-level testing to help educators and families uncover the true academic potential of high-ability students. Traditional grade-level tests can create a "ceiling effect," whereas above-level testing provides a clearer picture of advanced readiness.
Grades 4–6: Eligible students take the Iowa Assessments designed two grade levels above their current grade. Testing can be administered at preferred school locations.
Grades 7–8: Eligible students take the ACT (the same assessment used for college-bound high schoolers).
Eligibility: Open to both Kentucky residents and out-of-state students.
How to Learn More
To review course options, register for Super Saturdays, or access testing dates and eligibility criteria for TIP-KY, please visit the WKU Center for Gifted Studies website or contact your school's gifted and talented coordinator.
